The Triumphant 5K

Camp Triumph Society is hosting a 5 kilometre run fundraiser on October 17 to bring in valuable revenue lost due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Through this trying time, everyone has had a taste of isolation and the stress that goes with it. That is the daily reality of Camp Triumph campers. They live with feelings of isolation, uncertainty, anger, and worry all the time. These kids still need your support.

Who Will Participate

From serious runner to beginner are welcome and encouraged to sign up.

When

October 17th, 2020
Men's race: 1 pm
Women’s race: 2:30 pm
Family run/walk: 4 pm

Where

Camp Triumph - 407 King Street, Malpeque, PEI
The course will take the runners from the Camp Triumph site across and through neighbouring Cabot Beach Provincial Park looping back around to finish on Camp Triumph soil where there will be a reception with refreshments.

Race Fees

$25 entry fee ($20 for early bird) to register.
Plus each participant is asked to raise at least $175 additional in pledges, which can be donated online.

What’s Included

Participants receive a medal, water and post race refreshments, and a tax receipt for any donations they make personally. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the day and prizes awarded to the top finishers and fundraisers.

All public health protocols set out by the Chief Public Health Office pertaining to gatherings and events will be followed.

This event is a great chance for runners and families from all backgrounds to be out and active in a time where those opportunities are fewer and far between.

Contest Alert! Submit an Original Campfire Song

As you know, we here at Camp Triumph have been working hard to bring camp to you at home during these uncertain times. As a part of our Camp at Home journey, we are hosting an Original Campfire Song Contest. This is your opportunity to shine bright like the star you are! After all, who doesn’t like to sing around the campfire?!

The contest will run from July 21st until August 4th and it is open for children of all ages to participate–whether you are a current or past camper. You may create either your own lyrics and melody or feel free to create lyrics to put to your favourite songs melody, so be creative!. It is necessary to keep in mind that all lyrics must be appropriate for all listening audiences. We will be accepting one song per participant and the song should be no longer than two and a half minutes. There will be one grand prize winner only! The winner must agree to have their song sung at camp and at other Camp Triumph events and activities!

For your video submission, it is important to make sure that you provide us with a copy of your written lyrics along with the name of your original song. Start off by introducing yourself and telling us how long you attended/have been attending Camp Triumph. Also, be sure to tell us what your inspirations for your original camp song were. Feel free to collaborate with friends you met at camp and send in a group video (while maintaining social distancing of course!) or have a special adult/family member to join you in the video! And remember, repeat after me songs are highly encouraged!

Triumpant Day Camps

Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31

We are holding our first (two day) Day Camp on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31! Your child can attend one or both days. They run from 9am to 8pm.

We hope you can join us. Space is limited.

We have so many fun activities planned all with physical distancing and PEI Government guidance taken into account. Like our camps, this day camp is free to attend. Lunch and supper will be provided.

UPDATE: The Latest on Camps in 2020

We wish we had more to update.

As of June 22, we are still waiting for guidance from the PEI Provincial Government on whether overnight camps in any form will be allowed this summer. We have been seeking this information for more than six weeks and still don’t have any indication on what will be possible this summer.

The talk of an “Atlantic Bubble” may be promising to welcoming campers back, but we still don’t have an indication of exactly when and what that will mean for camps.

Right now, all camps are on hold until we hear clear guidelines. But if we are able to hold overnight camps, it will be done with the utmost safety.

Regardless, we hope to engage our families in other projects that will serve our kids better this summer and year round going forward.

Camp Triumph At Home

With life being anything but normal right now, we wanted to give everyone a little break by thinking about the fun we have during the summer! Update on COVID-19 and Camp Triumph's Summer

We know that many of you may be concerned about whether you or your children will be able to attend Camp this summer given the current unprecedented situation with COVID-19. We can’t predict how much longer this will go on but we are very hopeful camp will still go ahead as planned in July and August. We are continuing to work hard planning and preparing for this summer so continue to send in your applications and we will process them just the same.

Cancelled - Curling Challenge for Camp Triumph

We regret to inform that we must cancel our annual Curling Challenge for Camp Triumph fundraiser. In accordance with directives from public health officials regarding limiting gatherings, we had to be diligent and take this step. We hope to reschedule for a later date, but it will not take place on March 28th. Hope to see you all again soon!

Program Coordinator

As a part of a team of core camp staff, the Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and overseeing our creative, diverse, and engaging program. This includes daily activity sessions, camp-wide activities, and overall programming for camp and for rental groups. Other duties are assigned as required including the preparation of camp and camp facilities before the session begins.

First Aid Coordinator

Administer first aid for the campers when bumps, bruises, upset stomachs occur and dispensing camper’s prescribed medication. With just 70 campers per week, you definitely wouldn’t be seeing patients constantly so in the meantime you would also fulfill the role of floating counsellor - helping with activities and camper supervision.
As a part of the core staff of Camp Triumph, you would be present for all camp sessions and help organize and deliver the camp program.
A full nursing, medical, or paramedic degree is not required. If first aid is not up to date, the successful candidate would be sent to a paid first aid course prior to camp.

Camp Counsellor

Helping to lead activities and building relationships with the campers while looking after their needs as a part of the core team of staff (directors, program and activity coordinators). The core staff is a passionate and cohesive group of people who enrich the experience of the campers and gain valuable, transferrable work experience in the process. 
Core counsellors are present throughout camp, help to plan and organizes the camp program, help prepare the facility before the camp session starts, assist with events, and run programming for renters.
Experience at a summer camp is a strong asset but not required. Experience working with kids is required.

Counsellors come from all over the Maritimes to volunteer and get to know some amazing kids and other counsellors from many different backgrounds.

What volunteers get out of it
The experience of a lifetime. The campers will expose you to a different perspective and the value of appreciating what you have in life. You will grow as a person and gain skills. You will have just as much fun as the kids in a carefree, welcoming, and relaxing environment. It is great experience in its own right and translatable to graduate school, health professional programs, residency applications, teaching school, and ‘real world’ jobs!

Who we are
Camp Triumph provides a unique and unforgettable camp experience to children who have a parent or sibling with a serious illness or disability. Children, aged 7-16, congregate in this wonderful haven where they take a break from the challenging lives they face at such young ages. We provide therapy through FUN. Our campers take part in a balanced program that includes, physical activity, healthy eating, creative arts, self-esteem boosting, relationship building, and relaxation. Our counsellors play a key role in enriching their experience.

This means 14 more kids will have a stress-free, unforgettable experience that will help them build skills, coping strategies, and lasting relationships. You also helped to raise the awareness of our organization, our kids, and what we do. This is very valuable for us going forward in our mission. Thank you!

Campers Give Back

Cole and Brennan have been attending Camp Triumph since they were 8 years old. They’ve loved their family away from home so much that last month, they held a bake sale at Cole Harbour Place.

This isn’t just a one time thing with these guys. They’re planning another bake sale for the new year. But Cole, for his part, has been busking with his fiddle on the Halifax waterfront for several years in support of CT. He’s ready to get back out there as soon as the warm weather returns in 2019. We’re overjoyed to have amazing campers like Cole and Brennan who want to give back.

Community Impact Award Winner for 2018

Camp Triumph was the recipient of the Malpeque Bay Credit Union Community Impact Award at the Kensington & Area Chamber of Commerce Business of Excellence Awards Gala on November 21st. This Award - presented by our friends at Malpeque Bay Credit Union and crafted by our friends at Malpeque Fine Iron Products - is one we are so proud to display! 

Other award winners include major Camp Triumph supporter Scott O'Neil from O'Neil Home Gallery, Camp Triumph volunteers and owners of Montgomery Inn at Ingleside, and donors Monaghan Farms Ltd. and Bonnie Woodside representing Mike's Independent Grocer.

Spring has arrived and with it, the opening of registration for Type 1 Diabetes Camp at Camp Triumph!

Volunteer as a Camp Counsellor

Every summer, we look to fill most of our camp counsellor slots with volunteers. These are usually university students who want to volunteer a week or two out of their summer for a unique and rewarding experience having fun with some amazing children. What you would be doing

Each week, we bring in 10-14 volunteers who serve as camp counsellors for the campers. These volunteers spend the week onsite having fun with the kids and giving them the best experience possible, responsibilities include:

Annual Curling Challenge Set for March 24

Our annual curling fundraiser brings in members of the community, with some, little, or no curling experience, that are supportive of the cause and want to spend a fun day on the ice with friends. All money raised goes directly to sending worthy children to camp for a life-changing experience.
